The Wren is situated inside St Nicholas Cole Abbey and is named after it’s architect, Sir Christopher Wren. The church dates back to the twelfth century but was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. Rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren in the 1670s, the church later suffered significant damage during the Second World War, and was reconstructed in 1962. St Nicholas Cole Abbey remains a fully operational church with services on Thursday lunchtimes and Sunday mornings.

St Nick’s talks

The Wren closes between 12:45 - 14:00 every Thursday for the St Nick’s Talks. The Talks seek to explain, from the Bible, the good news about the person and work of Jesus Christ. They are open to people at any stage of Christian understanding, whether you would call yourself a Christian or are simply interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. Please do join us on Thursdays from 13:05 - 13:35. For more information regarding the Talks, please visit www.stnickstalks.org or pick up a flyer on the tables.

St Nick’s Church

St Nick’s Church have their Sunday morning services at 11:00, with coffee and pastries from 10:30. The church family is young and diverse, united by their faith in Jesus. The service includes songs, prayers and a talk from the Bible. Whoever you are, you will be really warmly welcomed. Visit www.stnickschurch.org.uk for more information.

Events

The church also hosts regular events throughout the year that are specifically designed to help explain the Christian faith in an engaging format. Previous events have included a talk from an evolutionary biologist explaining how science and Christianity can co-exist; the testimony of a former drug addict and alcoholic who came to faith in Jesus; and, of course, carol services at Christmas!

Please speak to one of our baristas if you have any questions about the Christian faith - they’d love to help you find out more or put you in touch with a member of the church staff team.

All proceeds from The Wren are used to support the ministry work at St Nick’s and to maintain the coffee shop business.
